Andulka’ Hysterectomy Story
Type of Hysterectomy: Laprascopic Total Vaginal Hysterectomy
Age at Hysterectomy: 50
Location: Queensland Australia
I had this procedure, as I had trapped blood in my uterus (due to ablation) and also cysts on both ovaries. My Gynie also found fibroids.
I had my operation on the 22nd of October and I was home on the 24th of October. My whole experience was a good one. I really regret not taking stool softeners. The anesthesia knocked me around quite a bit. I had a negative reaction to Morphene, but I found that I only needed basic pain killers as the pain was not bad.
The whole experience has been great. I feel that I finally have been able to connect with my body. I actually feel like a flower that has just opened up, ready to share the beauty. I now listen to my body, respect that it is telling me to slow down and relax. I feel more confident, and I actually like myself, more than I did before. In mid January after my surgery, I went back to my Gynie, as I found out that I had granulation. This was treated with Silver Nitrate. He also prescribed Vagifem for 2 weeks. After a week of taking this, I had internal pain, and my abdominal bloating became unbearable. I have an appointment to see my Gynie 12 February 2015, just to see if the granulation is under control. I will also discuss the Vagifem issue I had.
My general health is good. However, I feel frustrated as I am stuck, with this bloated stomach. I have noticed that my joints are a little more tender, but I was diagnosed with Osteo before the procedure.
I think I would share the fact that you need to listen to your body. Enjoy your healing process, a great test for self-discipline. Be prepared not to be in control of the house and house work, life goes on and your house will not crumble. It is a time for you, to get to know yourself. I think the most important thing is to know that you are still a woman. I love being free from the constant nagging pain.
