Angel’s Hysterectomy Story
Type of Hysterectomy: Partial hysterectomy
Age at Hysterectomy: 38
Location: Fontana, CA
I had a tubal ligation and then my periods changed.I had been having painful heavy periods for 5 years. The Drs kept telling me there was nothing wrong. Finally a Dr did an ultrasound and found liquid in my left fallopian tube. So I was sent to a specialist. The specialist ran some tests and diagnosed me with adnomyosis and meneragia. She gave me 3 choices. I chose hysterectomy.
My surgery went good. No complications. It was a 2 and a half hour surgery. I had my uterus, and fallopian tubes removed. I had general anesthesia. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days.
My recovery was slow. I was out of work for 14 weeks. I did have painful gas and using the restroom was uncomfortable. I read books and went online to find information on what to expect. I have 3 kids so not having any more children was not an issue for me. After the 14 weeks I resumed my normal activities.
After my hysterectomy my life has been good. I don’t have to worry about having that horrible pain every month.
Hysterectomy is a big decision. If you are in a lot of pain it is a good choice. I suggest doing research. It is different for everyone. The hysterectomy association is a good place to start.
